Re: Thank Goodness the Forum came back!!!

Was wondering what had happened to this forum, just got the email and the pointer to where it is now so many thanks for that Alestair. This may not be the busiest of forums but at least it is Australian making any information in it far more relevant. Forums like this are also vital to keep film phot...

Re: Focus cloths

I just got my wife to make me something that fits over the camera and over my head , it looks a bit silly from a third person perspective as it looks like my head is in a sausage but there is no cloth flapping around in the wind either. It really does not matter what you use as long as it blocks out...

Re: Print Permanence

Silver based prints can last for well over 100 years or so but this can depend on many variables. Firstly the reason they do last is because Silver is an extremely stable element and being a noble metal means it does not react or corrode in air or with many ( if any ) chemicals that occur in nature....

Re: The future of darkroom printing

Well I finally got some fresh sheet RA4 colour paper from the US and did some 30x40cm prints from 4x5, once I got all my colour cast corrected ( not easy with a condenser enlarger ) the print quality far surpasses what I can get done at a digital lab, it just takes me 100 times longer to do, price w...

Re: 80mm enlarging lens advice

80mm f:4 Rodenstock Rodagon , very sharp. I have seen these lenses for around $150 on eBay but if you can stretch the budget they try to get a Rodagon N APO, 8 element lens. This is what I use for my 6x6, the APO type is really not that necessary for B&W and you can not really tell the differenc...

Re: The future of darkroom printing

This is not intended as a "this Vs that " I should have mentioned I am shooting in colour and in days now long gone I would have been printing with Cibachrome from slide film as well as RA4 printing from negs. I still shoot in colour from large format and I don't think I could ever use any...

Re: Thanks for bringing the site back

I would be happy to chip in for the site cost , This may not be the most active forum out there but I would hate to loose it and the fact that this is an Australian forum is a sort of bonus and very much a rarity.

We all owe it to our selves to keep this site alive.

Re: Film fogged in holder.

Not to sure what went wrong but my guess it was a bad sheet of film. ( it is Fomapan after all )

However I do love the shot and the film defects seem to add a new element to the image and that in its self is amazing for Fomapan film.

Most of the time Fomapan film looks best in the rubbish bin :)

The future of darkroom printing

This has been a concern to me for some time now but I am thinking of getting out of darkroom printing, chemicals and paper are getting more expensive every day and it would seem that every day there is something I can no longer get. I have recently got my self an Epson V700 large format scanner and ...

Re: DIY enlarger?

My first enlarger for MF was home made and I just used an old Richo 50mm K mount lens, I just did not have anything else to use, the prints however where very sharp and I used that enlarger for several years. Most enlargers I have seen for 8x10 are made from view cameras as this is the cheapest way ...
