Re: Warehouse Wall and Door

Nevertheless the image creates a feeling of excitement with its strong horizontals and verticals and the high contrast light. And the slanting shadows of the lights above the door modified by the corrugations provide interesting geometrical counterpoint. A very worthy subject to photograph, Maris, a...

Re: Tales of a mis-spent retirement?

Hi Walter, good to hear from you and hope you're doing well. No it's not a Sinar panel. It turned out to be 118mm square. I was concerned about bellows flare/vignetting and wanted a decent size all round to prevent it, consistent with keeping the overall size of the camera as low as possible. So the...

Tales of a mis-spent retirement?

Something I've been working on all this year, a folding 5x7 with good range of movements. Made of Huon Pine from Tasmania, a beautiful timber prized for boat building (unaffected by water) and fine furniture making. I considered the traditional teak, mahogany, cherry, walnut etc but could see no rea...

Re: My Mother's Kitchen

A very thought-provoking question, Maris. My house reflects my busy life; with so much on the go I'm afraid all of my areas are a mess and I wouldn't know where to begin getting things in order for my departure. I admire very much your mother's wish to leave everything in order. I think it's difficu...

Re: Lake Cootharaba, Swings

As a matter of interest, Maris, what developer did you use for the negative? I intend using my all-time favourite PMK, which from experience gives beautiful expansion particularly to fully exposed highlights.

Re: Lake Cootharaba, Swings

Quite agree. I have some 5x7 Fomapan 200 on the way. It's supposed to have a wide tonal range, especially in the highlights, which your image seems to verify very nicely.

Re: Boulder, Bald Rock National Park

Ah, but what a photograph! Beautifully seen, Maris! To me there doesn't seem to be anything special about the rock itself, but its setting gives it drama and boldness which you've captured and emphasised. I'd say the declaration of a state of emergency would have been justified to ensure the surviva...

Re: Tea Tree Bay #3

Hi Mick, Have a look at Green.L filters from China. I have several of their IR and ND filters in various sizes and cannot fault them. Their 67mm IR is described here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Green-L-67mm-IR-720-Infrared-720nm-X-Ray-IR-Glass-Filter/153560561515?hash=item23c0ec376b:g:~F0AAOSwM7lcb2Xu...

Re: Tea Tree Bay #3

You saw the great composition though, and with the film/filter combination there was a good chance things would turn out well, and they did! I never used the Efke IR film but I've seen many great images done with it. It was a sad day when Efke closed down. I have some Efke 25 4x5 in the freezer and ...

Re: Autumn, Lake Jindabyne, Infrared

A stunning image, Maris! I love IR film; it challenges our sense of reality but has its own reality which grabs our attention, as in your image here. Bravo!
