Re: Old Weyba Bridge and Bird, Soft Focus.

Very nicely seen and executed, Maris. I don't think there are many subjects that respond well to soft focus lenses, but this one certainly does. May I ask how you maintained 'focus', by aperture alone or swings, or both. It must have been tricky, but you did it well. A lovely image.

Re: X-Ray scan of contact print

Hi Bazz,

Nice images. But I'm intrigued to know what an x-ray scan of a print is. I've never heard of x-ray scans of prints.

Re: The biggest camera I can carry

It must be and I don't envy you lugging it all through the bush. I can't remember what model my Manfrotto was, but it was heavy! How easy would it be to replace the metal legs with carbon fibre pieces. And can you find them?

The biggest camera I can carry

Chatting with Walter recently via PM on the subject of suitable cameras for use in the later years of life, I happened to remark that I used to use a Toyo 810G "...here, there and everywhere." And I did. Walter also used 8x10, in all probability more frequently than I did. Now we both have...

Re: Jericho (again)

Amen to that, Walter. Alex your work is astonishing. I've seen so much crappy wet plate work in the past that I've never developed an interest in it at all. But in your hands I find I'm re-evaluating my opinion of it to the point that I might even give it a go myself some time. Thank you for showing...

Well you nailed it Alex. Great focus and DOF, and a striking composition. A real winner.

Re: WISTA?? Any opinions?

The Wista is a folder, Lachlan; I don't think it would be possible to fit a Sinar shutter to it. I agree on the value of the Sinar shutter for barrel lenses. The only modern field camera I know of that takes the Sinar is the Shen Hao XPO-45A which you have. A very nice camera but out of our price ra...

Re: WISTA?? Any opinions?

Hi Walter, I haven't owned one but have been considering them recently myself; there are several nice looking candidates at the moment on the Bay. Yes, I've regretted parting with our Toyo; but moreso for your sake as you've been deprived of your 4x5 and other kit (I at least have the Linhof). I kno...
