Re: Baron Plains Rd

Wow! Burnishing! A sublimely luminous technique fully supporting your original vision for this beautifully composed subject. I tried to find these trees using Google Earth but got lost in central Tasmania. Thank goodness you are out there and achieving a remarkable run of successes.

Re: Model and Photograph

Thanks Mick and Walter. I'm not sure if this is art but I tried to arrange it as if it was; that's the "as if" principle at work. Sometimes it works, sometimes it slides off into pretention or twee-ness and I can't always tell the difference.

Re: Spaghetti Tree

Alex, how absolutely splendid; a triumph. Your "hit rate" is amazing. It's not like you shoot a hundred versions of this Spaghetti Tree, just pick the best one, and tap the delete button for the rest.

Re: Billy Buttons in Snow

Thanks RoganJosh and Walter Glover . Finding these compositions is hard but not as hard as getting to them and setting up a camera. Off piste snow is treacherous, sometimes unexpectedly waist deep and sometimes dead slippery with ice. I have nightmare visions of falling on my back like an overturned...

Re: Blue Pool

Crickey Mick, it must have been a dark dark day down at Blue Pool to warrant such an extended exposure on FP4+. But it works: soft shadows, smooth sky, mirror water, and that crunchy gravel bank decorating the foreground. Even that rope hanging off the gum tree on the left is idle; no swing, drop, s...

Re: Window, Newstead Wharf.

I was too parsimonious to spring for the bag bellows. Less than $1000 but not by much. I got the Plaubel Profia 8x10 heavy metal monorail camera cheap from someone who hated it. I hated it in turn and finally sold it to someone who will eventually come to dislike it. On a studio stand it's very good...
