Re: Homage to Frederick H Evans' "Sea Of Steps"

Walter, in no shape or form, did I wish to convey you may have been infringing on the 1903 photograph. I was in fact interested in the image you chose to show by utilising the objective that you selected, in order to show your version of the scene.

As mentioned, it is to me, a refreshing view.

Re: Homage to Frederick H Evans' "Sea Of Steps"

I suppose the steps were welling up, when you tripped the shutter? :D Always hard to follow something as well known as this photograph is and not feel as though you are doing a cliché of it. The Cazneaux tree in Australia springs to mind. That said, the fact that your version encompasses the overhea...

Re: "Coat Hanger" At Dawn — 29.11.1997

Walter, thanks for the information. I don't think I have ever seen the Harbour bridge from that viewpoint, which I think is superb; well, this image anyway. As for Baltronics, would have to be around 30+ years since I've darkened their doorstep in South Melbourne. I knew one of their staff, Rod, ver...

Re: "Coat Hanger" At Dawn — 29.11.1997

Not knowing Sydney all that well, is this the south side or the north side of the harbour?

Looks quite alright.

Is Baltronics still in business?

Re: Viking Devastation

Interesting, something I didn't know about, Vikings at that place, that is.

All it needs is Flanagan and Allen singing, "Underneath the Arches"....................... :o

Re: Ledge with Arranged Boulders

Been away for a while, picked up a new computer and I couldn't get back into the sight......... :?

Meanwhile, they look pretty good, great contrast, and, stating the obvious, it is definitely a B&W image.

I wonder if the artist came from Kambalda, in Western Australia?

Re: Hauled Out Boat, Lake Cootharaba

Ha, that is interesting.

I saw the tree and figured you had worked to include it, but until you mentioned the rock, I was oblivious to it. Although I presume I knew it was there, I just didn't notice it.

Re: Hauled Out Boat, Lake Cootharaba

I really like this, so many interpretations are possible, more so when printing. Grey day, grey subject, grey........................... very nice to see the lift you have given to the boat when printing. Have you thought of making it an enclosed landscape? As in, removing the sky and having the onl...

Re: Fern gully, Toolangi

Really good, makes me think I'll head there next week if isolation restrictions are loosened. In this instance the darkening of the corners enhances the image, just. The overall evenness is brilliantly handled, with the central fern tree very well placed; so nice to see something like this. Rogan Jo...

Re: Doug Hall at Imagery Gallery

Pretty damned good, I reckon. The use of the slightly longer focal length seems to have helped, as does the almost dark appearance of everything except his face and to a lesser degree, his shirt. I have only done a couple of portraits using the same technique, but haven't gotten anything as good as ...
