nailed that print man.
strong impression of light. highlights aren't blown. shadows are full.
if i were this good at printing i wouldnt avoid difficult scenes like this.

Visual arts are visual and they should never be more than that. As long as the quality is discernible on a fine level and it is an artist original, who gives a shib how it was made?

tis not easy to compose or print images of mangroves, ive tried shooting such scenes many times to no avail, the lighting situation always throws me off a bit. I think youve solved both categories to a standard that a good mangrove deserves!

Cheers Maris for the kind words, and I agree with what you have said here the worth of a picture in an art context is related in part to the accumulated weight of all the decisions the picture maker went through to get to the end point , I like to think that many of the best photos from last century...

I agree with lachlan on this one. I have cheap $5 acrylic filters and expensive glass wratten filters and no human would ever tell the results apart.

However, I disagree that PS is a panacea for poor exposure. This is true, i'm just saying that there is far less harm in not testing film than there used to be. I've been placing my shadows slightly higher than I used to to account for box speed discrepancies and i've never had trouble with blowing...
