Re: Iron Shed, Monaro Highway.

Mick, you see it right. It was cloudy bright but perishingly cold with a sharp breeze. The back of the shed afforded a bit of shelter so that's where the camera was set up. Framing strategy was the basic "get it all in". I didn't correct for verticals - wasn't sure if the shed was straight...

Re: Iron Shed, Monaro Highway.

Good ones, Walter! The church is a perfect archetype of Australian corrugated combining the aesthetic and the pragmatic. Short of a massive bushfire a corrugated iron church will last forever with minimal maintenance. That corrugated wall with all the tags and the dunny on the left has been up befor...

Re: Z & B, Seaside Conversation.

This is what happens when I go to the seaside with friends. They chill out and I photograph. They don't notice the camera anymore. They've seen it a hundred times and know it's not dangerous.

Re: Jericho (again)

As a photograph this is a car crash; a very creative car crash. And like the real deal along the highway, the scene that I know I shouldn't slow down and stare at, but I do, it shakes me up a little. But in a good way; a sort of exhilaration in its raw physicality.

Re: Weeping Willow, Hollow Tree Road

I keep seeing these Alex Gard ambrotypes and I think I'm learning. From my ultra-traditional background I would not even think of sending out a photograph unless it was perfectly spotted and etched if necessary. Well, I'm sure that Alex hasn't spotted or knifed Weeping Willow, Hollow Tree Road so so...

Re: Noosa River, Afternoon.

Thanks Mick. Tilting the camera up or down causes vertical convergence or divergence. So I set the camera dead level. Unfortunately the horizon then goes through the exact middle of the picture, usually a bad bad, but I figured with all the visual clutter from the branches no one would notice. The r...
