Re: Darkrooms

All very impressive Shane,

BUT .... I'd be painting the sloping ceiling and part of the flat ceiling black to kill fogging. I also invariably have the wall behind the enlarger black also.

The 8x10 is ready to see duty .....

Yesterday I took the 8x10 back that came with the conversion kit I purchased up to my mate's and had it checked on the Sinar jig that measures alignment. It is amazingly true. A few weeks earlier I had taken the 4x5 components and they were also well within acceptable tolerance. I also picked up the...

Jeff Carter on Artscape Tuesday ABC TV

I went out into the world with the recently acquired Linhof Master Technika V and wanted to check that it is aligned correctly. It is. I also did a test with a 500mm Nikkor Tele and it is a pearler, too. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8442/7756874380_bdb5d32914.jpg 500mm Tele http://farm8.staticflick...

Re: The Wonder Of The Contact Print

Obviously a 4x5 contact print would be a little silly.. It ain't necessarily so Alex, Tina Modotti, muse. love and disciple of Edward Weston, built an enormous reputation and here work was all 6x9 cm contacts (or whatever the 'Plate' size equivalent was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g29CCS_kuaQ F...

Re: Direct or Indirect Shifts?

Love 'em, or hate 'em, the great contribution of the Sinars to LF operating is the two-point focussing system to calculate a relatively accurate amount of tilt or swing. I recently posted an image of floral tributes stuck into the air-vents of the plinth of a huge memorial monument. I shot with the ...

What a cracker Shane!

I really admire the sense of scale provided by the 'small' water tank.

Re: Adding to the Inventory

Is there a tried and trusted method to figure out the hyperfocal distance on such cameras? I assume I would need to get out a tape measure and measure the distance between the film plane and lens plane or something along those lines? Welly, I was possibly in error suggesting that I set a hyperfocal...
