2 new ambrotypes

been a while going with 5½ x 14 inches for a while, really enjoying this format. I'm just using the inserts that go in my 11x14 plate holder. I'm hoping to get about a dozen of these panoramas together of nice classic Tasmanian landscapes for a more solid body of work to exhibit. I just got a great ...

Re: Weeping Willow, Hollow Tree Road

Correct Gary. You head out past Hayes/Hamilton/Ouse and there is a little gravel road that juts off to the North and cuts through the pastures into Bothwell.

Heres a phone picture of an outtake. This one would have been a cracker had I taken into account that the thin alumimium does not displace as much of the silver bath as a thicker piece of glass, so a long strip down the right hand side did not make it into the silver nitrate for sensitization. https...

For Sale: RealitySoSubtle 6x17 panoramic pinhole camera

At the risk of a laugh, no this was not just a quick passing fad but I'd like to trade this in for a pinhole camera of a smaller format. This is a lot of fun. Laser drilled pinholes make very sharp images (as far as pinholes go) without losing the dreamy quality of infinite depth of field and slight...

Really nice composition and all tonal values handled in a unique and striking way. I have an enormous soft spot for trees and water and this one brings them together wonderfully.

Jericho (again)

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4407/37079977785_f8d2ccc905_c.jpg Here's one from a while ago. When I made this plate it looked nice and very clean. When I brought it home and heated it up and poured the varnish over it, all that burning around the top right hand corner appeared. I think I know now ...

Thanks guys. Maris I still vividly remember your words when I visited your home in Noosa a few years ago when I was still only curious about the collodion process. You said "it's not hard, but it's hard to do WELL" While i make no claim to be great, i still echo those same words when peopl...
