Re: Bottle Jacks

Not too bad Shane. Were these the plates you borrowed the filter to cut the glass for? I seem to recall a Shelley Screw Jack on the Austin version of the Land Rover the old man had around 1958 - 1960, looked a little like what you have photographed. Do you collect these, or just happened upon them a...

Re: Reclining Nude, Noosa Forest.

On a roll there Maris, three completely different genres in a few minutes, all excellent. This is deceptively good, a quick look and it looks alright, then a longer look and it looks better. Viewing it on the screen totally enclosed in a black background, it shines. Great advice there with regard to...

Re: Pressure Vessel, Charters Towers.

Quite interesting reply with regard to the mass of the pressure vessel and why it is where it is. Riveting stuff. I'm assuming the pressure inside and out is constant at one atmosphere? I've always liked arriving at Charters Towers when coming from the west, wonderful verandahs in the main...

Re: Lady Carrington

Graham, welcome to the forum.

Nice first picture with a new to you camera, hopefully you have a box or carrying case for your camera; they can be a bit hard to tramp around with.

I agree with Maris, the palm in the front certainly gives this a lift.

Re: Cazneaux Tree

I like that look with the low clouds in the background, probably about the best photograph of that tree I have seen. I really like that you have not included the whole tree, which makes it all the more interesting, to me. I would suppose that Harold Cazneaux probably never thought that particular ph...

Re: Rose & Iris

This does look very nice, interesting film, I haven't used it. Is it something new, or something you've had for ages? The grain structure in the window area, looks very much like a lithographic mezzanine screen ruling. I too, use a V800 for scanning negatives, but I have never seen a structure like ...

Cobram Courthouse

Took this on Saturday in the cool of the morning, actually, mid morning after a breakfast in the bakery café opposite. The camper was parked right in front of the Courthouse and as we walked back over the road, I spied the building then decided to have a crack at it. I was caught between t...

Re: Bottles and Pears

Pretty good there Maris. Did you think of filling, or half filling some, or all of the bottles for effect?

Regardless, the softness makes this, gives it a lift it would not have with a super sharp image.

Very nice.

Re: University of Southern Queensland

Very interesting to see colour and B&W for the exact same scene, presumably only minutes apart. Your technique is right on the money, the shadow detail in the B&W is exceptionally good, more so as it is near the edges of a wide angle lens. No mention of a graduated centre filter and yet the ...
