Nice first picture with a new to you camera, hopefully you have a box or carrying case for your camera; they can be a bit hard to tramp around with.

I agree with Maris, the palm in the front certainly gives this a lift.

Regardless, the softness makes this, gives it a lift it would not have with a super sharp image.

Very interesting to see colour and B&W for the exact same scene, presumably only minutes apart. Your technique is right on the money, the shadow detail in the B&W is exceptionally good, more so as it is near the edges of a wide angle lens. No mention of a graduated centre filter and yet the ...

I think the middle one would work best, it will allow for some lifting of the heavier areas as the image starts to fade. Thereby allowing your relatives in 100 years to marvel at old Bazz and how good he was.

Beautiful contrast control, the major cloud is perfectly placed, certainly lifts the whole image. The texture of the grass is great, contact printing really is something else.
