Guess that I shouldn't mention item #221116808482 on eBay then… Mmmm.

Re: WTB: Cambo 4x5 ground glass

There are a couple of threads on this topic on LFPF; a search will find them.

Also, you could consider getting in touch with Steve Hopf at http://www.hopfglass.com. These are really, really good quality and he's a grouse bloke as well!

Re: Adieu Kodak

The sky's not necessarily falling. Don't forget that Ilford went onto receivership in 2004. Harman technology Ltd bought it in February 2005. It seems like a pretty solid (albeit a much smaller) organisation that is dependable and seemingly here for the longhaul. I won't miss any of the Kodak produc...

Welly,

Have you considered trying to grind your own GG? It doesn't seem to be too complex.

Re: The Wonder Of The Contact Print

I watched a video by Jim Fitzgerald on carbon transfer the other day. I think I have the itch. Whilst I have yet to see on in the carbon (its version of in the flesh), my understanding is that they are something to behold as they have a slight 3D look due to the raised carbon in the shadows. Here's...

Re: WTB: Tripod head suitable for Cambo 8x10

Welly,

I use a Manfrotto 229 (http://www.manfrotto.com/3d-super-pro-head) with my 7x17". No issues whatsoever.

One thing that I'd suggest for bigger formats is a ball head. I find that the weight of these cameras makes fine adjustments very difficult with a friction screw.

Re: Direct or Indirect Shifts?

I still get a kick out of getting everything in focus.

If you've done it correctly, and you have a decent lens on board, just wait until you see the neg! The difference you get from focal plane alignment, as opposed to shooting with diffraction-limited small apertures, is often amazing.

Don't you simply place the trays next to each other and go from one to the next?

Re: Tree detail

Quite painterly Welly. I really like the white dot with the dark surround; it is almost like a sun. I wonder how it would affect things to rotate the image 90º clockwise and turn it into a sunrise over a landscape? Something like this? Haha Lachlan, this actually made me laugh. Well played sir! I a...

Re: Tree detail

There's a particular kind of tree, I've no idea of the name, that I keep seeing - it's a very light, almost white colour and it has these scribbly lined patterns all over it. Anyone know what I'm talking about? If it's around Sydney, I'll go with Angophora costata , or, more likely, Eucalyptus haem...
