Re: Wanted: 20x24 Easel

I use a Saunders 20x24 four blade model as my regular paper easel and it is the best easel I've ever had. And I got it for free because one of the adjustment knobs was broken off and lost in transit. This because a big easel is a fragile thing to ship and requires very sturdy packaging. I made a woo...

Re: Tom's Boat.

Thanks for your comments Barry Kirsten and RoganJosh . The original crooked horizon photograph is deep in the archive ... somewhere. But I could have presented the original uncropped picture and then claimed an artistic trope called the "Dutch Tilt" or "Dutch Angle". A deliberate...

Re: An overnighter in KNP

John Power , that is a really nice sequence of Main Range views. It is not often that someone summons the determination to haul a large format camera up there. My best effort was getting a 8x10 to Blue Lake - but only once. Mt Townswend approach is a dramatic entree to the final ascent. Townsend is...

Re: Native raspberry leaves

Good one John Power. Native raspberry leaves is a masterclass in balanced composition. Was it a spontaneous find or very artful ikebana on your part? Those middle leaves look like beaten silver; a gorgeous tonal assignment.

Re: Harry Spring's Kitchen, Noosa Everglades.

Mick , your comment on the fire hazard of Harry Spring's detached kitchen intrigued me. The original cooking arrangement was apparently just a stone circle fireplace with a couple of camp ovens. A local historian explained that the thing that worked against a general conflagration was the really st...

Re: Windmill Wrangler, Blackall.

The wrangler has taken the old vanes off but the replacements haven't arrived. "Next coupla days" he reckons. The water table here is a deep and the pump rod only has a stroke of about 10cm. About half a cup of water per stroke but enough over time to fill a farm dam. Or so I was assured.

Re: Wanted: Print Washer

I've always printed on fibre based photographic papers and inevitably have experienced a range of print washer miseries. The Gravity Works 20x24 washer I used years ago belonged to a colleague but I had permission to use it. It taught me a 20x24 washer is huge, it takes ages to fill and empty, and i...
