Re: What's in Brisbane?

That devious bastard Ansel Adams still eludes me! Where does a man have to go to see his work? back in the day Sandra Byron did a show of vintage Adams' work — much of it NOT landscape — and that is the only Adams work I have seen that was wiorthwhile, let alone impressive. The ANG in Canberra has ...

Re: What's in Brisbane?

I never have a problem shooting LF in city areas ..... or anywhere. Marc, perhaps something that you can seek out in Brisbane is the bits that still look like a country town. There are some buildings with lace verandahs and colonnades. Interesting stuff where the motorways are built out over the riv...

A Solstice Meditation

Beyond the reach of LF but ..... This stunning video is one single real-time shot, with no manipulation whatsoever.  The camera was placed on a hillside over 2 kilometres from the Lookout point, and was shot with the equivalent of a 1300mm lens.   The amount of planning, trial and error, and luck th...

Re: Scanning 4x5 Negatives

I question whether or not to post this information here, but I will anyway ..... Last weekend, in particular, I put a fair bit of time and effort into sorting out preferred options with my scanning. This was largely due to an ongoing number of 6x6 negs in addition to the 4x5s. I use the Epson 4990 w...

Re: Digital Backs

I'd favour a Leaf or Sinar back over a Phase One.

Not sure that you would need MF for the work you describe.

Re: Fomapan film

The most potent sign of the direction Kodak is going was when they discontinued Tr-X. I have used a lot of the T-Max films over the years and they are consistent and good. But they lack character. When Ilford went down the gurgler years ago and was resurrected by a buy-out it was clear that they saw...

Re: Fomapan film

Thanks for the heads up on CheapShots. He is cheaper than Freestyle when you take freight into account. I have been working my way through a shitload of T-Max 100 I was given (Readyloads) and I use T-Max 400 for studio nudes but I prefer the look of FP4+ and HP5+ to anything. They are quite differen...

Re: Enlarger lamp

Why do I get the sense that we are headed back to light through a ducted skylight as they used over 100 years ago?
