Re: Drawing a Blank

Check griffgear.com.au for lens wraps. He's a local AP shooter with an industrial sewing machine.

Re: $99 4x5 point and shoot

Geoff, I think it has to do with either the film to flange distance or the size of the rear element. If you read the long but comprehensive thread on the Large Format Photography Forum you may well find a better and more specific answer.

$99 4x5 point and shoot

I'm not affiliated in any way but I thought some might be interested in this Kickstarter to create a production run of 4x5 point and shoot cameras that will sell for $99 without lens. There's a long thread about it on the Large Format Photography page. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wanderlust/...

Re: Wood collection (and some thoughts on testing failure)

I agree with the above. You need a better selection of lighter tones in your subject to make a judgement by eye.
It looks like you shot a fairly contracted scale to begin with.
Shoot the same scene with a bit of black cardboard, an 18% grey card, and a bit of white cardboard thrown in.

Walter,
I'd be interesting in hearing more about your mate and his alignment jig.

Re: A Pocket History of the Status of Film Today

I disagree with Hoffy. The article makes no mention of Fuji, Iflord or any of the small European manufacturers. So I don't see how it can be an accurate reflection of the current state of the film industry. Also, to omit any mention of Lomo, which is increasing profitable, is a flaw.

Re: Water temperature

I just use water baths. I also only use glass graduates and beakers which come up or down to temp much faster than plastic ones. I'm pretty anal about always devving at 20C and then usually just keep the others with 2C...

Try Shane Pearce, above Blanco Negro in Redfern, or David Kay...
