Re: Buying from China?

Can you confirm that the F1 has a GRAFLOK back on it. Also could I send you some Infra red film to test if the rumors about the bellows not being IR proof are correct. I'm not sure how a Graflok back is defined, but I can confirm that it takes the same film holders as my Crown Graphic, and also my ...

Re: Focus cloths

For what it's worth, I ended up buying a BTZS focus cloth. There's no argument that it's expensive but when you're struggling to see enough detail on the ground glass you really appreciate the complete blockout of ambient light as well as the convenience. Some of my LF gear is done very much on the ...

Re: Vanbar Sydney fading away?

I think they use a courier of some sort, not the postal service. (Not that I'm excusing their shipping pricing model!)

Re: Buying from China?

I am really glad to hear this. (And I might add that I am green with envy!) Did you get the normal one or the one with Asymetric tilt on the rear standard? It's the "F1" model, which has the asymmetric rear tilts. The camera appears to be well built and well designed, the only (minor) pro...

Re: Buying from China?

Just an update to this thread; I've now received my new Chamonix. The purchasing process was painless and fast. Now I'm going to spend the weekend working out all the different adjustements, it's quite a different beast from my Sinar F2 :)

Re: Exciting times...

Good luck with that 20C water. I reckon that's too cold for efficient film processing and there's no technical justification for it. It's just a historic hangover from European style tap water. Running a full processing cycle, including archival washing, uses a lot of water and if it's all the same...

Re: Buying from China?

Was it a 4x5 or larger you were after? I was considering putting my Shen Hao 4x5 up for sale in the near future... Too late; I've placed an order (for a 4x5). Sorry about that. Some time in the future (depending on continuing gainful employment which is by no means certain), I'd still like to also ...

Other than the AUS/USD exchange rate, their products sounds very nice to me already :)

Buying from China?

I'm tempted to buy a new Shen Hao or a Chamonix. I've been waiting for a good used one to turn up locally for the right price, but no luck. (I know of one for sale locally, but the price isn't that great.) Has anyone here bought directly from either of the above, or would it be better to buy via one...
