Maxwell Focussing Screen

After quite a few months saving and a few more in correspondence with Bill Maxwell, he likes a chat, my screen finally arrived. I purchased the HI-LUX Ultra Brilliant Matte with grid, for my Shen Hao 4x5. I did some tests while mounting it on my camera and setup difficult light conditions to test th...

Re: Closing the blog

Hi walter, apologies if you thought so, but I am not pointing a finger, just find the lack of interaction frustrating. You have a wonderful reference utility here, there is lots of viewings but nobody's talking.

Re: Closing the blog

As you said Walter it is sad to see anything promoting large format closing, I am surprised at the lack of interaction. I visited this site a week or so ago seeing it was the same few submitting material and wishing to add a bit of support. I had 65 viewings of a photo I put up, but only two respons...

Re: xray film a technical discussion and image sharing

Mick we have some great subject matter up here in the hills, (we had snow two years ago) any large format analoguers are more than welcome. I am in the process of putting a bedroom in my shed, so the darkroom is right next door.

Re: xray film a technical discussion and image sharing

Mick I wish you a good safe and sound trip. Fortunately I have never needed to notch, the double sided xray also gives me an extra boost of contrast, as I said alternative printers love the stuff due to the extra DR. Easier now, just scan the 4x5 image, enlarge to the size you want and print out a t...

Re: Some thoughts on bellows making

Barry I had the same problem with material when looking to patch old bellows and the like. I went into a local material/haberdashery store in Warwick and to my surprise they had some material no thicker than normal polyester which was light tight. It would need some scotch guard to waterproof it, bu...
