Nude and Tree, Alexandria BayGelatin-silver photograph on Ilford VC FB photographic paper, image size 24.5cm X 19.6cm, from a 8x10 Kodak Tmax 400 negative exposed in a Nagaoka double extension field view camera fitted with a Commercial Congo 360mm f6.3 lens. Signed, titled, and stamped verso.
The nude figure can serve as a symbol for vulnerability and a large camera looming over a model may be uncomfortably oppressive. I have a theory that in the act of looking up or looking down interpersonal power knows which way to flow along the line of gaze. Here the model dominates the camera and stands easy and confident.
