Coomera Gorge.

Taken on medium format because the hike is brutal. Even though the mamiya super 23 has enough movements to fix that vertical convergence, the impending rain (as can be seen against the gorge wall), meant that this was a handheld job. Can't speak highly enough about this little press camera as it really is the king of versatility.

Yes, that's a dramatic and beautiful scene. And it seems to offer lots of places for the exploring photographer to break a leg.

That Mamiya Super 23 is a spiffy minature view camera when you use the rear bellows. Years ago I lugged one through the Noosa National Park doing deep focus landscapes via the Scheimpflug effect with a bit of back tilt. Swapping between the ground-glass viewing frame and the roll film back is a slow way to work but the image quality is superb. Mamiya put a lot of metal (durability!) into this camera and I remember it weighing more than my 4x5 wooden Tachihara.

Luckily for me i've never owned a light 4x5. No comparisons to be made over here!

That really is a nice image. Lots of detail in the shadows. Dramatic.
