My knowledge of plant types is insufficient to offer any sort of verbal definition. I suspect these are not yew trees. I did see many yew trees in the UK and some are absolutely ancient. dating back to Roman times and before. They have served mankind incredibly well in so many ways.
It was initially the 'hide-and-seek' quality of the church portal lurking in ambush that triggered my heliographic response.
