These remind me of pictures my grandfather took in the mid 1920's in the middle of nowhere as he and my mother and the rest of the family traversed the continent. Everything he did was sepia toned back then.
They are very nice and as Maris mentioned, obviously taken when the light was at its strongest.
Best of all though, is that you achieved what you set out to achieve, that above anything else is very satisfying.
