Blue Pool

Postby Mick Fagan » 10 Aug 2019, 19:55

We camped here for a couple of days, every time I visited the water there were people running around, until the weather started to turn that is. Finally got what I was after.

This is Blue Pool in Freestone Creek, which is north of Briagolong.

Crickey Mick, it must have been a dark dark day down at Blue Pool to warrant such an extended exposure on FP4+. But it works: soft shadows, smooth sky, mirror water, and that crunchy gravel bank decorating the foreground. Even that rope hanging off the gum tree on the left is idle; no swing, drop, scream, splash, shenannigans to fracture the stillness of the scene.

Yes, it was very dark, rain started as I was packing up and continued for the remainder of the day and all night; stopped around 0800 the next day.

It was so dark that I decided to not use my centre filter, instead hoping the lighter areas on the edges; where the trees are, would be better for it. Once I saw the negative, I knew it was the right decision.

Mick.
