So since getting my stock of black glass I've really fallen in love with this whole thing again. I've started burnishing them, which when theyre exposed and developed properly will bring all the highlights to a brilliant distinct silver finish
Of course this wont show up on the scan so you'll have to take my word for it.

Wow! Burnishing! A sublimely luminous technique fully supporting your original vision for this beautifully composed subject. I tried to find these trees using Google Earth but got lost in central Tasmania. Thank goodness you are out there and achieving a remarkable run of successes.

Thanks Maris.

Until these last two plates, the one ambrotype I sent you was my brightest. Now I think i've figured out the technique to get iptimal brightness and the amazing silver finish. Of course the polished silver appearance is lost once varnished but the image is still incredibly bright. I will start framing then up in some beautiful huon pine and conservation glass this weekend.
