Well I suppose the line has been drawn at 4x5 by consensus
And 617 is 2cm short

Like a nose hair finish of whatever at the races.

Only one winner.
Sorry

So close. But not lf.

To be clear. I would find it fair to have a medium format thread.

Problem is that there are are all different mf sizes that do not relate to lf
Hence line in sand hence people getting upset.

Lets keep it simple or open a thread discussing options.

But posting mf on lf site without saying is also a bit cheeky.

I.e I had to ask the format.

So lets start a mf format Fred?

6x17cm needs a larger image circle than 4x5. As such, I vote that 4x5 is rendered to MF...

Seriously, though, do we really need this dead horse to be flogged?

Perhaps 100cm2 should be the demarcation, using the vernacular, not the literal, dimensions?

Surly we are not going to be that anal. 6x17 is (should be) acceptable here were not that big of a site to knock people back.

Alex, nice images glad to see somebody getting out. Im hanging for the long weekend myself.

Andrew - When this forum resided on another server in its first days, we did discuss LF/MF and everyone agreed, we are too small a community to go cutting images and possibly loosing a wealth of knowledge in MF shooters... At the end of the day, the passion here is LF. That said, the only difference between what I've done here and what others do with LF cameras is the method of loading and unloading film. Everything else is the same. I see a scene, I compose and focus on a ground glass, I stop down, close my shutter, pull the dark slide, make my exposure, replace the dark slide etc... Yes, my film is loaded differently.. If you personally choose to discriminate against me and my images because I load a roll of film instead of sheets, Thats your perogative... I hope you don't get upset net when I post more MF in the future. And when I post pics of my current 8x10 project, and my previous 4x5 home made camera etc, I hope to gain your respect... Clearly the film I shoot precludes me from any sense of respect for the time being.

Lachlan - Panoramics for life buddy!! :D Still looking for a 7x17, especially after seeing your pic of the 7x17 neg on a light table next to a 617.. haha..

Shane - Cheers mate, Yeah I've been lucky enough to get out quite a bit recently... I'll be heading out again this weekend and the long weekend too!!

Agreed lad, to me LF is more a way of mind than a measure of film size

It's a dr heckle and mr snide personality
Disorder.
:)

Love theimages.

Didn't know we all agreed 617
Was cool

I even looked at 617 cameras on eBay after I saw images

I have done a few 4x10s using dark slide
I like the idea of having access to roll film.

4x10 is my dream rig but the $$ is prohibitive for me at the moment (1 year old daughter who's mummy loves to spoil her :D )

I'd love 4x10 for colour and 7x17 for BW.. Reserve 6x17 for the super long hikes where every kg of kit counts... One day.. :D

9:32pm. In the middle of a 12 minute post-sunset exposure. It's not warm, I have to walk back over rocks with no torch. I haven't eaten.

Damn you Kodak and your fancy print filum.

I have a spare 108 Kodak 2d
If you ever want to take it for a spin
If your in Sydney
410 is only 2.90 a shot @hp5
Shit that is expensive
I don't think about it
I just blow a box and say why the hell am I doing coke!

125 Asa is 2.22 for a 410 or 4.44 for 108 for those bad at math

I took hp5 away down the coast and it was way to fast for sunny days out doors.
Need 125 or slower for old ilex shutter.

My 19" lens too big for sinar shutter
Need graflex conversion to get 1000th
Fastest I can get us 1/50 I think

I have a 24" that is faster I should have taken that

But the good news is my new headless rig with sinar support for monorail
Is solid in strong wind!

Amazing; heavy, but who cares with a-trolley.
It's work
Chop wood carry water.

There I was on a deserted beach when 4 young hipsters from melb came up
I may as well have been on a camel playing hurdy-gurdy, they were amazed

Any way out of 18 shots only one turned out. But I'll be back.
A great learning experience.

You'll have to move to the Bahamas if you keep that up.
Oh and there's this thing called a torch...
