The first time I looked at a 4x5 velvia 50 slide, I just about dropped to my knees wondering why I shot digital for so damn long.... I regularly look at 4x5 and 6x12/6x17 slides and think to myself... This is it. Photographic ecstasy.

The idea of a 7x17 RVP50 slide almost brings tears to the eye... You would literally just frame the slides with a backlit panel behind them... And they would be pure awesome.

Trust me, Jars, this camera is itching like the bloody sandfly bite I got at Milford Sound a couple of weeks ago.

As I've written, a 4x10 Velvia slide on a light table would be a knee-trembler for me!

My, my - how times have changed. In my youth a knee-trembler was generally experienced against the back wall of the surf club. No light table there as I recall.

Either way, we're both alone with trembling knees!

What's the availability of film for such a format?

Edit. Not that I'm planning to make a purchase!

4x10-most people cut 8x10 in half, dead easy. I believe Ilford with their once a year large format custom order will do fp4plus and hp5plus in 4x10. Not aware of anyone doing colour as a stock product, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ilford does a run each year for B&W.

Otherwise, I think that the general idea is to cut 8x10 in half. There are/were dedicated cutters for this.
