Image
Spencers Creek, Near the Kosciuszko Road
Gelatin-silver contact photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 24.6cm X 19.5cm, from a 8x10 Fomapan 100 negative exposed in a Tachihara 810HD triple extension field view camera fitted with a Wollensak 159mm f9.5 lens.

The Wollensak 159mm is a tiny lens from the 1930s. It is uncoated but remarkably sharp and flare free when stopped down to f32 as for this photograph.
Because the lens was given maximum fall and the camera back was strongly tilted back to place the Scheimpflug plane from the grass at the bottom of the photograph to the rocks on the far side of the creek the image was displaced upward in the film holder. That's why the negative rebate at the bottom of the picture is so narrow.

Interesting. I am, for some reason, freakishly aware of perspective control and never, ever use rear tilt, only swing. I don't know why this is or where it came from, maybe stemming from the main reason I got into LF in the first place.

159mm lens must be incredibly wide?!
