Backlit Red Gum

This is hard to print in the darkroom, so thought I'd have a go in Lightroom, although my digital skills are pretty poor. I'd appreciate any criticisms or suggestions.

I actually think I prefer the original - there seems to be a bit more contrast and so the tree stands out a little more. The manipulated one has quite an ethereal feeling about it. I love the composition but I prefer your untouched version!

Thanks Alistair, I appreciate your comment. I was trying to rectify two main defects I perceived: 1) The burnt out patch of Kangaroo grass in the bottom right foreground; 2) and the sunlit secondary branch left of centre which needed to be more prominent. I succeeded with the first, but am not happy with the second. Another try some time, as the result was not what I visualised at the time of exposure.
