Trees, Norfolk Island

Postby Alastair Moore » 28 Oct 2016, 17:32

Started developing and scanning my 4x5s from my recent Norfolk Island trip. Here's a couple to start with. Both Moreton Bay Figs and for some reason, my export from Lightroom has them far softer than the actual scan. They're nice and sharp on my computer.

Ilford HP5+ developed in ID-11 for 10 minutes (continuous agitation). Shot on Toyo 45AX with Nikon 150mm lens.

Nice images, Alastair. I haven't spent a great deal of time in regions where those fig trees grow but they were the first thing I fell in love with and probably my favourite thing of all from my brief time in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. I would love to head back up that way and spend some time photographing them. They are such fantastic trees with so much character. Shame about them being such a pest.

Botanic gardens in most Australian capitals I've visited have good specimens of figs. I don't know about Hobart, but worth a look. Sydney and Brisbane of course have them planted everywhere as ornamentals. I agree, they're very photogenic.
