Any Others Experience DownTime?

Postby Walter Glover » 10 Oct 2018, 21:50

Hi,

I am pleased to see the forum back on-line but for a couple of days I received and error message that server could not be found. Did anyone else encounter this.

As you can tell, we're now back on the air. My apologies for the outage!

The problem is/was that Alastair still owns the domain name which points to this newly-hosted system. That domain name expired a couple of days ago causing the outage that you noticed. He's since renewed the domain so we're back on the air. That wasn't as easy as one would expect due to changed registrars and email addresses etc, but he's solved those obstacles.

Now that Alastair once again has control over the domain name, he'll be transferring that to me so that I can manage it along with the hosting which will simplify some other management issues.

I too couldn't access the site, but I wasn't too worried as I thought it may have been exactly what happened.

Many, many thanks for keeping the site going.

Mick.

Thank you for the explanation. It confirms my initial thought.

What a treat to have a site with frank, open and transparent exchange of information such as this.

Now .... when will I ever get my place unpacked so I can access my scanner after 2.5 years.
