Definitely no! Been there, done that...sort of. The harsh reality of photographing as an employee is that you end up with no photographs of your own. Copyright, moral rights, physical possession all belong to the boss.

A distant pal of mine worked for a state government doing pictures of national parks and accumulated a huge and lucrative stock library. Some mean spirited folks suggested that while he was on field trips all the mediocre pictures were done in government time and all the brilliant stuff was done in his own time.

A sharp example of the anxiety is Ansel Adams' "Moonrise, Hernandez". He made that exposure while he was working for the US government. Moonrise contributed greatly to Ansel's popular fame and made him wealthy enough to end his money worries. Subsequent astronomical analysis showed the exposure was made at 4.05 PM, October 31, 1941. This is well inside working hours and the picture rightly belongs to the US government. Ansel was seriously lucky that Uncle Sam did not pursue him over the matter.
