Nothing much on offer on Saturday night so, for old time's sake, I settled in a stroll down memory lane watching Flashdance. It happened right at a time of hiatus for me in may ways and so I saw it quite fondly. BUT ..... with the passage of time I also got another big buzz out of this movie set in a steel mill in Pittsburgh. I couldn't help reminiscing about W. Eugene Smith. Not Large Format, certainly, but what a maestro of shooting with a strong commitment to social justice. Not a lot of that about these days.
