Sydney - Coogee/eastern beaches on Saturday?

Postby Alastair Moore » 25 Oct 2012, 23:49

Hey all,

Planning on heading to Coogee and that part of town on Saturday morning-ish to Saturday evening for a shoot if anyone is interested in joining me.

Cheers,

Alastair

I am heading in the opposite direction — I have to pick up a tripod I purchased from a geezer in Avalon.

Not to say that I couldn't make it to Coogee later in the day.

I am just wondering about crowds in the region due to the Sculptures by the Sea at Bondi.

Any fruits of your labours as yet Alastair?

I ended up not shooting a single sheet - but I did pick myself up a 90mm Nikkor in my travels - as well as the aluminium Gitzo I'd bought on Ebay.

There could be something of a tripod clearance sale in the near future.

Any chance of there being a Manfrotto 161?

I'm kinda hooked on the idea of one of these. 2.7m maximum height.

Manfrotto 028 B Triman - twin strut jobby that also goes incredibly tall could be on the menu.

1.79m maximum height.

I used to have a 161 and it quite good but it was a real back-breaker to lug about.

Yeah; I think that I'll keep the 055 for trekking. Mind you, I got my girlfriend a Vangard Alta 283CT. Amazing tripod!

The 161 is for the car where I can set it to shoot while standing on the tailgate.

I love the look of the 028, though.

I'll be developing the couple of sheets I shot on Saturday tomorrow - would be doing that tonight but taking my girlfriend out for dinner!

I had hoped to have shot a few more but I was stopped on quite a few occasions asking what I was doing, what kind of camera I was shooting with etc. etc. I didn't mind talking to people about photography but I would have preferred to be shooting! Still, can't be rude and there's plenty of other opportunities.
