Water/wine casket as Chem storage

Postby Andrew Nichols » 15 Dec 2012, 09:28

I have just put my dev in a 4 litre water casket in cardboard box from Coles.
Just took off spout thingy and poured in.
My theory is that like wine it does not want air.

Has any one done this?

Yep; works well.

Just don't forget to lock it up whilst you're still sober, as a tipple of Chateau Rodinal or Penfold's Bin D-76 has never made James Halliday's Top 100 drinks list...

It should work well Andrew and allow for easy measuring. I read about using wine casks many years ago in a photo mag but having always used one shot from a litre bottle I never tried it.

Yeah the only problem is the tricky bit of getting the tap on and off.

I am surprised there is no bladder system on market seeing as it auto adjusts to volume. And leaves out the air. I know those accordion style bottles are ok, but a pain to use.
I have been thinking about building one
Using off the shelf plastic taps.
I'm stuck on the lid bit
But there is probably something out there.
Or just epoxy glue an opening on cask
With a tap you coul have a clear hose that was say 300ml in volume and
You could pour strait into jobo
Just mark 100 200 300ml on hose
Having release valve at end.

Next project....

Ahhh

You can buy 2/3 litre water packs for hiking etc
For one dollar from eBay

And they have hoses with shut off valves and easy access.

Project done,

Next!

I just divide my dev into the smallest water bottles.

Sage advice considering the season.

:)

It works well by the way.

Oh and thanks Lachlan
I made a hose and funnel
I use a piece of curly garden hose you know the retractable kind. The curve allows me 90degrees to the funnel
So poring is easy
I rolled out 4 negs and whilst it has not fixed my exposures it has solved my drips
Thank you very much!
