WTD: wide 8x10 lens

So I was out with my 8x10 this afternoon and wanted to take a photograph but unfortunately my 300mm Fuji lens simple wasn't wide enough to capture it the way I wanted. So went home empty handed, although I captured it with my iPhone so that's something at least.

So, I'm looking for a wider lens. Something around the 180mm region. I'd probably go for a 210mm and could stick my current 210mm, which doesn't quite cover 8x10 - annoyingly by only 10-15mm, on eBay.

If anyone has a lens, I'd be keen to talk to you!

Bugger all 180mm lends cover 8x10. The earlier Fuji (inside writing) just cover. Wide field Ektar 190mm as well. Next step down is the 165mm Plasmats. Big and $$$.

A 210mm G Claron will cover nicely.

In my experience, the G-Clarons are using heroes of image quality and usefulness.

Excellent. I'll look out for one of those then! A 210mm would work fine, just need something a bit wider than what I'm working with now.

Found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schneider-Kreuz ... OC:US:1123

Looks in good shape! My only hesitation is I'd have two 210mm lenses. I'm guessing a 210mm f5.6 lens that covers 8x10 would probably be way out of my budget.

There aren't a lot of f5.6 210mm that cover 8x10" with much movement; it's the massive plasmats (SSXL, SA, Grandagon) that will do it. They're big, both in size and in $$$. And hard to get. There's also the 210mm Angulon and the Graphic Kowa/Computars (rare)
The f9 210mm are cheaper. There's also the repo 213mm's. Big coverage, but big and impossible to put into shutters.

Cheers Lachlan. I've put in an offer for that 210 G Claron. Will see what they do, it won't be the end of the world having two 210mm lenses anyway, particularly for the price of that G Claron.

Fujinon-W 250mm/f6.7 covers 8x10 nicely (IC=398mm @f22). It is a sharp lens with good contrast.
It takes 67mm filter and fits in copal #1 shutter, very light and compact.

Lucaas mentioned the Fujinon 250mm f6.7.

Grouse lens (Colin D has one).

There's also the Fujinon 240A that Kerry Thalman has made into a classic. A word on that, though. I had one (late serial number) and a 240mm G Claron. I could not tell the difference on Chrome, so sold the Fujinon and still have the Claron. It is mint in a black Copal and cost a third of the price.

Don't get me started on the 355mm on my 7x17"... wow.

PS,

Wish they'd made a 180mm G Claron!

PPS,

Avoid any of the other Clarons (D, C, WA and Repo) unless you REALLY do your homework as they don't translate well to infinity shooting on LF.
