I've found a lens. The Fujinon W 210mm f5.6. It covers 8x10 nicely, or at least enough for my needs - 355mm image circle.

Rodenstock 210mm W can be good value (weight and cost - all relative to the alternatives) if you can find a nice one... The 210mm Sinaron SE or APO Sironar S (same thing) 75 degree version are a good choice too, though less movements. Anything else will either be HUGE, or barely cover.

Took delivery of the Fujinon 210 last week and got out with it yesterday. I'm very pleased with it - seems to have plenty of room for movements on my camera. Will develop the film I shot yesterday and see how it fares. So far, so good though.

How does it look around the edges? I bought a 250 6.7 for 8x10 and also have a 270g claron. There was some talk about the later versions being some sort of special playmate type design... Anyone know more about this?

Don't forget the smallest, lightest (mine's 380g with lens board), cheapest, wide angle for the 8x10 format: the Wollensak Velostigmat Wide Angle Ser. III f9.5 8x10 6 1/4" Focus. This 159mm lens also comes in a f12.5 version. Coated and uncoated versions exist. I got mine for $120 off eBay. Stopped down it has an angle of view of 100 degrees and an image circle of about 380mm. In landscape work I've never had to twist my Tachihara enough to lose image coverage. Here's a picture by it:

Really nice image, Maris. And a nice lens; I've really come to appreciate Wollensak lenses.

That is an absolutely stunning image, Maris! Since buying that Fuji lens, I've not actually got out with it yet. It's been looking at me pitifully and so I think it will need to go for a run sometime soon. I've mostly been shooting with my 4x5 camera in recent months. I find it a hard choice to make, which camera to take out. I've mostly been using the 8x10 this year as I've been in a position to make contact prints and don't have (currently) access to a 4x5 enlarger, although things are set to change.

Maris, i saw that same lens (159mm) on the other forum and jumped but missed out by minutes.

Alastair; i recently got the fujinon w 210/5.6 (the older version with the writing on the inside of the barrel...)Tapatalk wont let me share the image
I got mine in exc cond for arnd $150 which is apparently very cheap. Keep an eye out for it on ebay... Fantastic lens sharp all over (sharp to all corners at f/11 on a wet plate)
and room for some movements with minimal fall off. Just make sure its the one with writing on the inside of the barrel.

e: here is the lens

Sorry i just saw your post saying you'd got one. Is it the same as mine or is it the newer model with writing on outside of barrel (which apparently has less coverage than older model)
