FS: Screw in filters of varying types/sizes

Postby Alastair Moore » 03 Nov 2012, 14:14

I've got a Lee square filter system which I've been using for my ND grads but want to start picking up some coloured filters too. So offloading a bunch of screw in filters.

- B+W 10 stop/ND 3.0 filters in 52mm and 67mm. $30 each. Get your uber-long exposure shots in!

- Hoya 58mm polarising filter. $15

- Hoya coloured filters. Red R25a, Orange O(G), Green G(XO). $10 each or $25 for all three.

- Marumi 77mm Red R2. $20.

All cased, all scratch and mark free.

Hello! This is probably more or less all you need to know about them: http://www.leeduguid.com.au/blog/tips/b ... er-nd-110/

and here's a bit more: http://www.lightstalking.com/strong-nd-filters

Essentially it'll increase your exposure by 10 stops and you can use it for all kinds of creative application. Or perhaps just to reduce shutter speed during the middle of the day?

I have a hoya ndx400 in 72mm with a step-up ring and I am wondering whether replacing it with the 67 would be better.. but I would need to get rid of the hoya =P

Does the BW have any colour cast?

It does have a little bit of colour cast but from what I can tell, all of these 10 stop filters do. Certainly the Lee filters "big stopper" does, as does the Hitech big stopper and so on. But I've used it with digital and it's only slight and nothing that can't be fixed by adjusting white balance. With black and white, I bet you would hardly tell the difference.

Actually, if you're interested, I've taken two RAW images (shot with a Nikon D700), the first without the 10 stop filter converted to black and white using the "Green filter" black and white preset in Lightroom, the second with the 10 stop filter, same conversion.
