Rodenstock 210mm Sironar S (Sinaron SE) Large Format Lens

For sale is a 210mm Rodenstock 5.6/210 Sironar S large format lens. This is the Sinaron SE version sold by Sinar, said to be the 'cream of the crop' of Rodenstock's production batch.

The lens is in great condition, with some cosmetic signs of use.

It's a fantastic lens, very sharp. It's in a copal 1 shutter which is accurate. The image circle is 316mm giving coverage with heaps of movement for 4x5 and 5x7, and would possibly cover 8x10 as well.

It is in excellent working condition, it would be normal to have dust inside for a lens of this age, but there's nothing that would affect image quality.

Please note that the lens board is not included. It is an unusual size and highly unlikely to fit the camera of the buyer anyway.

Asking $950

Good luck Geoff,

Somewhat foolishly, I tried to flog mine for quite some time. There was bugger all interest on Ebay — even at stupidly reduced prices. Thank goodness because I eventually came to my senses and wanted to keep it.

In anticipation of flogging it I had bought a Nikkor_W 210mm (partly due to having previously having owned a heap of Nikkors) but when I compared the lenses on film there was no comparison. As we speak I am trying to flog the Nikkor AND a Nikkor-M 300mm.

As you said the other day, the 240mm is a cracker and I might try to get one of those also.

Cheers,

This is a cracker of a lens, but I don't need a 210mm and a 240mm. I find the little bit extra reach from the 240mm useful, though it is a significantly larger and heavier lens, mounted in Copal 3. The 240mm is really an 8x10 lens.
