jobo foot pump

You don't need one of these; don't waste your $$$!! In fact, they can be a bit dangerous. The sudden release of pressurised gas can damage the drum, you or both.

Try using a hose with a stopper on the end. Fill the drum, then put the hose/stopper in the hole and gently add water. This easily pops the lid in a controlled fashion.

Or, just use your fingers and work the lid off in small movements.

Using the pump is only dangerous if you don't follow the instructions and fill the drum with water before you pop the lid. It's also a great way to scratch your film with the 8x10 expert drums

I just grab a sponge to protect my fingers and pull the lid off, working my way around the edge. Easy enough and no sore fingers.

These can be expensive if ordered from overseas. I came across the same ones at a camping shop in Tasmania - I think for $10 - $20 - so check camping shops - I'm guessing for blowing up air mattresses.

Yes, they can be dangerous if you're not careful. It once blew off with such force that it went flying across the room after cutting my finger. There was blood and fixer everywhere :) I'm now more careful.
