Got it from eBay seller, performance_group_composites (http://myworld.ebay.com.au/performance_group_composites/&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2754).

Ended up going with 4mm sheet (going in to the base, and possibly in the rear standard to reduce some weight). I wanted to go with 3mm; however, getting a decent 3mm router bit proved too difficult.

CF is reasonably easy to work with. Lighter weight sheeting can be cut with a decent blade (Titanium edge is good). I'll be cutting this with a jigsaw, and then throwing away the blade. You need to cover the cut with masking tape to stop tearing, and it's a good idea to wet the sheet and/or wear a mask as well. Once cut, you finish it off with 400 Grit sandpaper.

Okay. Finally made a start.

Here's the dry fit of the base plate. Hope to glue it tomorrow.

Plenty more to drill…

My Old Man works up at Puffing Billy in the sheds, but he's so far avoided helping me.

Still, learning heaps and getting ready to go on to the 8x10 after this is done!

Sometimes attributed to Mark Twain:

"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.
