Can you leave neg over night to soak after dev.
If you need to crash.

It only takes a little more effort to go though the fix. You could leave them in the water after that...

Hi Andrew
Why risk it? You've done most of the work by then.
By the time you clean up the work area they've pretty much had enough washing. Especially if you use the Ilford 5/10/20 rinse method.

5 10 20
That's clearly intervals of water change in tray right.

Sort of. More so designed for tank processing.
Fill tank with fresh water, agitate 5 times, pour out, refill with fresh water, etc.
I read of this method very early in my monochrome journey. I never can remember if Ilford suggests that this method is all the wash needed or a technique to reduce time. I always thought it not enough so I've always done the 5/10/20 then wash under running water for 10 mins.

I agree with Henry on this one. Every photo grapher uses different methods. Youve just gotta go with whatever works best for you.

I think that this is a pre-soak, not a post development regime. IMO, it is too short if it is the post wash

Yes, it can be done. I discovered this one morning when checking a dozen dry 8x10 negs I'd hung up after processing (non-hardening fixer) the afternoon before. The problem was that the neg count came to eleven. One negative had been overlooked and had soaked in the Paterson archival washer overnight. No damage appeared to be done and this neg dried normally after rescue. Notably the wash water was cold at 19 Celcius. I would not be game to do this routinely and the anxiety about overnight wet negs would give me insomnia.
By the way forgetting a neg in a washer over a long weekend is different. After three days the emulsion slides right off the base!
