Re: At the Blackall Wool Scour

Smoothly done. As I was reading this I recalled Ansel Adams quoting Louis Pasteur's "Chance favours the prepared mind." How true in this instance.

Re: At the Blackall Wool Scour

Maris, you tricked me well and good. I would never have recognised Paul Keating, probably due to the shadow across his face. Well done!

Re: At the Blackall Wool Scour

I'm puzzled, Maris. Who is the PM in this photograph? Or is the mention of a PM illustrative of the principle that a big camera commands attention? I must confess you've got me testing the reliability of my ancient memory. I can actively remember all the Australian PMs from Robert Menzies (second te...

Re: Framed ambrotypes

Saw these a few minutes ago on LFPF Alex. Splendid work, congratulations. They would look even more spectacular seen in person.

Re: Melt Line, Near the Kozi Road

That sounds pretty right to me. I first visited KNP in '79/'80 and there was no vehicle access beyond Charlotte's Pass. I walked the entire round trip to the summit and returning via the lakes (about 20km if I remember correctly). I've since returned for walks from CP in both directions and have nev...

Re: Bicycle Belle

I'm tossed too, Mick. When I read the title I imagined I'd see something like 'girl on a bike'. When the image appeared I became intrigued and looked at it for a while without enlightenment. But here is part of the conundrum, that knowing the title forces the a certain expectation in the viewer to l...

Re: Tree and Moon, Isla Gorge

Well you work with what you've got, and I don't mind the vignetting at the top at all; I think it helps concentrate attention on the main item in the image: the moon set in its dark sky. And I think you got away with the bellows cut-off at the bottom, which is barely noticeable. An appealing image, ...

Re: Selfie with Noosa tee shirt

Thanks Maris. Local councils are spoil sports, aren't they? They seem to have the mentality that requires them to make and pursue petty regulations as justification for their existence. I have no time for them. O for the times when things were simpler and folk who weren't hurting anyone else were fr...
