Re: Black Stone in Beach Sand

Thanks Mick for your kind comments. The stone and sand were in the wave zone and my tripod got wet feet; not timid me though. Your Japanese flag comments reminded me that there are actually two Japanese flags. The civilian version, a red disc on a white field, is not controversial like the Rising Su...

Re: Aloe Vera

Simple, subtle, perfect! The vertical subject and the soft vertical pattern in the background resonate nicely together. In the big big versions of this picture the fine strands of webbing become visible and lend a reassuringly organic touch to this piece of natural sculpture. Mick , consider taking ...

Re: Charlotte Pass Snow Gum, Infrared

Thanks for your insights Mick . The lighting for this one was high bright overcast so the usual blue sky going to black in infrared didn't happen. Nice even light made for an easy-to-work negative that printed straight except for the lower left corner and edge. That area was pretty blank so a slight...

Re: Full Moon, Sunshine Beach.

Thanks Mick for your kind comments. Moonrise pictures are often attended by adversity. The moon moves its own width across the sky in two minutes so exposures that are too long deliver a sausage shaped moon. The sky at the horizon is very pale blue so a red filter doesn't have much to work with but ...

Re: Lake Weyba, Evening Storm Advancing

It could be that this forum will get its LAST POST and maybe it will merit such by way of ceremony. I've been putting up pictures to keep the forum ticking over so that it is obviously not totally moribund. A forum that looks dead will never attract (fingers crossed) a last minute rescuer.
