Re: With, or Without?

Perfect architectural composition with the typical Walter Glover mastery of lines, planes, and shadows. And the answer to "With, or Without" is, I reckon, both. The two pictures, one next to the other, add up to more than the sum of the parts

Re: Wanted: 4x5 Enlarger + Glass

timcooper there is a spare 4x5 enlarger at my place in Noosa. It is a Meopta Magnitarus 10 X 15. It has not been used for some years. The actual owner is on a photo-shoot in the Australian Alps. I'll ask and let you know. Much much less than 1k if available.

Re: Vintage Travelling Gantry Crane

Excellent gantry crane Walter . These devices are not often seen in the open air, usually up under a factory roof, where their mechanical splendor gets hidden. And the deliberate inclusion of the Balmoral Tiger Tails, I think that's what they're called, on the live power lines adds stripey visual en...

Re: Last Wheelie-Bin Out Of Point Light

Thanks Walter for this nostalgia inducing picture. Point Light at the Blackwattle Studios was a wonderful location. Even the walk there via Glebe Point Road was an experience in Sydney street ambience. I was at the "new" Point Light on its last day, 31 December 2014, when Lyndell and I ste...

Re: Sinaron SE 210mm 1:5.6

Very impressive image sharpness but some credit should go to the photographer for getting the focus spot on. I always thought the Sinaron SE series were re-badged Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-S lenses. Walter , do you know if Sinar made special selections, the best of the best, from Rodenstock's regular p...

Re: Kodak Chloro-Bromide Paper Test

A classic example of the power of small areas of paper-base and tiny bits maximum black to confer brilliance on a picture made of mostly high key mid-tones. And Walter , you again got those shadows dancing nicely with all the architectural details. The four electric wires coming into the building al...

Re: Heritage Fleet Workshops

Talk about repetition of forms! The giant triangles of the bridge and crane unify a busy busy picture. And it's a good use of large format film where the rivers of detail hold together instead of fading into grain and blur.

Re: Tent Embassy, Canberra.

Nice timing Walter. Late enough in the day so the fire glow stands out against the dark textured grass. The Old Parliament House lights are also on by way of a conciliatory reply, maybe. The Tent Embassy must be a jolly place. Sometimes I've walked past it with a camera and tripod balanced on my shou...

Re: Lake Jindabyne, Drowned Trees

Thanks Walter. Beyond reliable control of equipment and materials I reckon nine tenths of photography is having the energy to recognise and pursue evocative subject matter. I was supposed to be mountain climbing on this day, sky looked bad, went to Jinbabyne instead, lucky choice.
