With the present price of large format sheet film I imagine very few exposures end up on the cutting room floor. Now ambrotypes are even slower than film and demand even more of the photographer. ...

Those rocks in the second picture are some of the heaviest rocks I've ever seen. I mean visually heavy. Maybe it's the uncompromising ambrotype tonality, maybe it's the dark mass looming on the right that lends weight, whatever ... but it works.
