Re: River Red Gums, Wilpena, South Australia

Maris, I believe it was a combination of cost and dwindling professional usage of colour negative material. The amateur market, which was huge compared to the professional market, even though it was basically all 35mm format, was very price sensitive. Fuji had older 3 layer colour negative material ...

Re: River Red Gums, Wilpena, South Australia

Very nice one there Maris. Your idea of using a longer focal length has worked for you, they have a presence, are isolated, yet you can still see where they are with regard to the direct area they are in. Yep, they drop limbs as though they were in a sporting competition. I have found my 250mm lens ...

Re: Lake Weyba, Past Imperfect

Very interesting, not quite an abstract image, but getting there. My first thought was that 15 years is a long time, then I remembered I have 6 sheets in a Grafmatic holder full of HP5+, which has been there pre-Covid. The white snow like, or star like bits, certainly is a plus for being different. ...

Re: Traffic Control Point

Maris, it was a terrible day to be at the beach, however, it was apparently a perfect day to see whales as the weather was basically a constant light misty drizzle, the type you get when you are enveloped by foggy clouds. Couple that with a swell of about 1.5 - 2m and whale watching conditions were ...

Re: Rock Pool, Tea Tree Bay

Nice side on light, removes the need for a polarising filter; smart. Nice pick up on the rough edged rocks due to no constant wave action; give it 100 years and its possible that the rock edges are starting to be rounded as the sea levels rise... :o The big rock in the pool is positioned perfectly, ...

Re: Hydro Surge Towers, Tasmania

I have a vague feeling that I've seen these surge towers, but it would have been in 72/73 summer and the road conditions were all dirt. I'm not 100% sure, but they do ring a bell. When you mentioned the slight keening sound, that hit a memory cell somewhere in my noggin as I remembered the high pitc...

Re: Sunflower, Soft Focus.

Interesting in a couple of ways. Firstly the soft focus lens, I'm not familiar with it but presumably it's soft focus is inbuilt, not from a purpose built metal filter with holes in it. There also looks like a missing anti halation coating on the film, which I know is not true. But on the right side...

Re: Renovations

Thanks Maris, I must admit I didn't think of William Henry Fox Talbot when I saw this. :o I've had my eye on this house for a while, the newish owners have been giving it the onceover and as soon as I saw the colour scheme, I knew it was going to be a definite subject at some point in time. The owne...
