Re: Difficulty getting onto the forum

Steve, I've been unable to access the site probably every few days, it isn't a worry, I just come back later or the next day.

Re: Lake Jindabyne, Late Afternoon

Yes, the little bit of cloud in the corner, the first thing I noticed. Pretty good save there Maris, something like that is difficult at the best of times, but with IR820 film and filter, you probably didn't give have much leeway. Lake Jindabyne can be very windy, so I fully understand your concern ...

Re: Mordialloc Beach Winter

Maris, thanks for your kind words and observations. My Shen Hao HZX45-IIA doesn't have grid lines on the ground glass, sometimes I have thought it would be good to have a grid lines on the glass, but over the last 20 + years I've had this camera, I sort of haven't really needed a grid. Having grid l...

Re: Shire Chairman, Queensland

Quite a striking picture, especially if one knows the type of area and weather conditions and the distinct lack of suits that normally go with the area. Having your subject lean onto the metaphorical black stump, has given him something solid to hold him steady, great idea. Would that be the Barcoo ...

Re: Forum crashed

Steve, many thanks for your efforts, and as for being offline due to bots doing their fiendish hammering; that is pretty much the norm these days it seems.

We'll live with it. :D

Re: Adventitious Bud Snow Gum

Quite the find there Maris.

Usually one sees these after a bushfire has gone through, and then the plant is sometimes almost covered with them. Not so in this instance.

I particularly like the shadow formation, quite magical.

Re: Heath before Mount Stillwell

Hmm, really interesting viewpoint there Maris, one is certainly drawn to the mountain via the heath. The use of the very wide angle lens is what makes this picture come alive, the bleached foreground, followed by the lush middle ground and the mountain peak at the apex; literally. I hadn't noticed t...

Re: Verandah, Sunrise

Maris, that is a ripper of a picture, one that would make you stop for a second look if it was on a gallery wall.

The splayed look of all the lines, is the real attention getter.

Perhaps a slightly better caption could be" Verandah Surprise".

Re: Water Lillies, Soft Focus

Maris, doing the soft focus is unbelievably good.

One is almost transfixed with the dazzling reflections, and as a bonus, the falloff in the top corners, and to a lesser extent, across the top, pushes your view to the centre, where all the action is.

Quite the masterclass in lighting.
