Re: Snow Gum Burl, Infrared

Yet again the ethos of one of my heroes, Minor White, is front and centre here, Maris: All photographs are self-portraits. ... What I know of you from your comments over the years is that you don't mind at all striding along the path less trod and you've certainly done that in how you've responded t...

Re: Backlit Weeds, Soft Focus

I like this very much, Maris, Much as i agree that the Californian fixation with Straight Photography did yield some notable gems I also maintain that shunning other dispositions can only deny enjoyment of the motherlode that yields the enchantment of the glow that soft focus brings to these backlit...

Re: Renovations Encroaching

Thanks again. Maris,

Part and parcel with the pursuit of urban anomalies, in eitherr the city or the bush, is the need to tag. We see it largely witth paint, alomg Hadrian's Wall 2,000 years ago tthe method that stoodd the test of time was the sword or dagger tip. The human urge remaind unaltered.

Renovations Encroaching

GLEBE, N.S.W. — 2002 Is affluence the enemy of patina? Character? Reality? In fact the geometrics of the eaves, roofing and downpipe give the impression of being on a separated plane with the possibility of an alternative perspective. Such is the micro tonality of an 8x10 transparency. https://live....

Basalt & Ladder

On the face of it a steel ladder to access a tee on North Bondi Golf Links which is embedded into what appears to be a wall of the ends of basalt columns. But no. According to a cousin who isa geologist who did a survey there some 40 years ago the columns are sandstone. in several areas around Sydne...

Quite luscious Maris,

The surface belies the substance beneath. The folds and protuberances are approaching sensual, if not sensuous.

Re: Charlotte Pass, Autumn Herbs

No great problem with the edge of the image circle for me Maris,

In fact my initial reaction was that it formed something of a mirror of the designer point of the flowers. Lots to like here, particularly the sense of geometric form amid the random chaos of Aussie bushland.

Re: Work In Progress + Pole

Maris, In a somewhat unusual act for me I have omitted as much of the context as I could and tried to keep to the key components, almost solely. The structure is at the base of one of the steepest hills in the Eastern Suburbs and I did not engage direct or indirect lateral shift in the hope that the...
