Re: New LF from Arca Swiss at Photokina

Just been speaking to my buddy who has returned from Photokina. he had a close look at the new 11x14 Arca and says it is magnificent. The movements are controlled by the 'ball head' looking thingies as I suspected but he tells me that the swing axis is above the tilt axis and so the camera is yaw fr...

What's on for the long weekend?

I've got my gear sorted and loads of film so the world could be my oyster. I do have to work for an hour or so on Saturday arvo and the usual Sunday half-day but apart from that it'll be open slather.

The Jobo is installed and bursting at the seams for a run, also.

Re: The 8x10 is ready to see duty .....

Well, after much deliberation over recent weeks I have resolved that the Sinar 8x10 rig and 360mm lens will stay and be pressed into service. One of my muses will be available to shoot come November and another from the US of A will be here December. I have a new motif to pursue and will get the nec...

Re: New LF from Arca Swiss at Photokina

Alastair, It looks to me like a camera that can only work with indirect shifts — the height of the supports at front and back seems fixed. But the circular doova-lackies at the bottom of the base-rail and at the toip of each post would be Arca's special ball and socket heads that would allows swing,...

You may need a second tripod also.

Re: Some developing advice

I recall Walter suggesting on an image I posted up that I might want to reduce exposure and increase development to reduce the windows blowing out. Alastair, I don't have time right now to go back and find the comments I made but I am pretty sure you may have got my suggestion muddled. I seem to re...

Re: Fuji X Pro 1

It was the 35mm 1:1.4 that I tested and it was an absolute cracker, perfectly matched to the sensor.

I'll probably have to get the 18mm and the 60mm for it to accomplish the tasks I have to set before it.

Fuji X Pro 1

Lat weekend I had the opportunity to shoots a test with the Fuji X Pro 1. The results were astonishing and I know that I have no alternative but to get one. Now, I am not talking of getting one in order to supplement my LF kit for personal work, but I would get one in preference to updating my Canon...
