Clunes Town Hall

This is one building I have wished to return to, ever since taking this photograph. I took this in November 2011 at 1122hrs according to my notes; although the town hall clock suggests 1120hrs. :D I had at the time a 90mm but it just covered the 4x5" format, so no movements outside about 5mm in...

Re: Frankland Range, South West Tasmania

Mmm, food for thought there.

We have contemplated a trip to Tassie for around 10 years, it is possible that we will do one inside 5 years; will certainly keep this in mind.

Round Silo, Lake Cargellico

We had spent a couple of nights camped alongside the lake and had walked through the town a couple of times, I turned a corner and saw the round silo; just had to take a picture. I waited for one of the rushing clouds to hopefully darken the left hand background; more of as wish really, but it happe...

Re: Frankland Range, South West Tasmania

Never been to that part of the country, probably never will as it is a bit late for me to be bush walking in terrain like that. Looks like a real interesting place and after checking on the www I found that you would have been nearing 1,000m for many of the peaks at around 42º Latitude; cool. I like...

Re: Swamp Forms, Noosa NP.

This is really on the money.

Adventitious, has to be the word of the day.

After seeing a reasonable amount of your work with the 8x10" camera and 300mm lens, I think it would fair to say you have that combination under control.

Re: Murdering Creek, Logs and Snags.

Love the name, wonder if its because of something that happened many moons ago? Hmm, very nice, but I wonder if you had considered burning in the top right branches coming out of the water by ½ to 1 stop darker? When I look at the image with the light colours of the bulletin board surrounding it, it...

Re: Motorcycle Outfit

Walter, that would be a good thing, but he is off grid, and I happen to know that reception in that area is dodgy to say the least. Even with an external aerial and with that aerial stuck on top of our camper in a clearing, can we get a 1 bar signal for our mobile telephony. NBN has already arrived ...

Re: Motorcycle Outfit

Maris, spot on, the slightly longer focal length does appear to suit my photographic style, as well as wide angle lenses more than occasionally. My least used focal length is 150mm, followed by 65mm. This year, I have probably used the 250mm and 90mm lengths equally. I carry 65/90/150/250 with me, t...

Re: Sedge Field, Coolum.

Pretty good Maris.

Hard subject to photograph, 8x10" negative would almost certainly have made the difference from not too bad, to being very good.

Your point of interest is perfectly placed.

Sedge eh, were you standing in water?

Re: Motorcycle Outfit

Walter, with regard to HP5+ being smooth, it can be, sometimes though it is problematic in really contrasty lighting. Mostly I intend to use it for low contrast things and in low contrast weather; hence this photograph. My original intention was to shoot using FP4+, but the weather and my meter read...
