Re: WTB 5x7 film holders, 80mm 5.6 el nikkor.

G'day Walter, great to hear from you, and I hope you're back to full strength. I've tried to contact you previously, without success. Yes, I agree about using a longer lens, but for me at the moment it's a matter of economics. I have the 135 El Nikkor I got from you, which is great for 6x9s which I ...

Re: Backlit Poplars, Lake Jindabyne, Infrared

What a fantastic effect, Maris. Who could have expected that? It's hard to find the right words to describe the effect, but blinding and eerie at the same time seem to fit. The effect is very appealing and certainly demands further contemplation.

WTB 5x7 film holders, 80mm 5.6 el nikkor.

I'm looking for 3 or 4 5x7 holders for a camera I'm building. Wooden ones OK, as long as they work. Genuine 5x7 thanks, not the European 'equivalent'. Also looking for a late model 80mm 5.6 El Nikkor enlarging lens as I want to re do some of my 6x6 negs. Why El Nikkor? Because my other enlarging len...

Re: Sun-bleached Stumps, Charlotte Pass.

A wonderful image, Maris. These beautiful old snow gums retain their dignity and beauty long into death. The wood has weathered to a hard sheen that's somewhat reflective and which you've captured beautifully. It's difficult to know the age of these trees at death without counting growth rings, but ...

Re: Some more from Errinundra

Too kind, Mick, thank you. Clematis is fairly common, usually in damper areas supporting tall forest trees like Mountain Ash. There are patches in the Dandenongs and into Gippsland to the east. A place I suspect it would also be found is in the wetter forests around Lorne. I can't recall seeing it t...

Re: Some more from Errinundra

Thank you Maris for your kind words, I feel very honoured. Yes, the Kowa is both a brute and a beauty. The mechanicals are said to be temperamental, although I've had no trouble with either of the two I've owned, and they are big and heavy for the format size. But the lenses are indeed wonderful - s...

Some more from Errinundra

Still going through my past images from the Errinundra region, I found three work prints made on Gallerie Gr 3 for which I have no negatives! For some unexplained region I have misplaced the negatives and haven't a clue where they might be. They're 4x5s from around 2000, most likely on FP4 or Tmax 1...

Re: Result Creek Falls

Thanks Mick. No I haven't used E72, but I'll give it a go. I didn't know you could get Vitamin C powder from the chemist. There are other formulas I've seen that use it, so that's handy to know. It pays to shop around fo photo chemicals as there is considerable variation in prices. Still, it seems t...

Re: Result Creek Falls

Thanks Mick and Mark. I haven't been back there since that photo, but from previous experience of Victorian environmental management I'd say that it would still be overgrown in pursuit of their apparent policy of excluding access - which I believe is what the Department understands as 'management'. ...

Result Creek Falls

Tmax 400 rated at 320, developed in PMK. 8x10 enlargement on Ilford MGFB Warmtone satin surface developed in ID-78. A friend commented on the weak blacks in this print. I believe this is due to the surface w...
